The Perfect Swing
Reverse every natural instinct and do the opposite of what you are inclined to do, and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing.

H.O.G.G.S Away Match Horton Park
Tuesday 17th May
Brian Cowie writes
Once again on a brilliant summers day we attempted to beat HOGGS on their own patch. The reception we received was great and the course was in excellent condition. The catering was also very good.
I disgraced myself by playing some of the best golf I’ve played in many a month, thanks to the support and encouragement of Bryan Foster. I’ve lost my 100% failure record at the 4th attempt, well done Bryan. Those who went before in Bryan’s position know who you are!!!
The match results were as follows:
Brian Cowie & Bryan Foster beat Peter Channell & Geoff Mallow 7/6
Joe Burgin & Peter Quelch lost to Keith Digton & Nick Rowles 4/2
Ken Pattenden & Brian Wood beat Doug Roddick & Alan Glover 4/2
Ron Humphrey & Colin Puddephatt lost to Fred Hoosang & Mike Easton 5/4
Bill Crozier & Ivor Blunden lost to John Parr & David Fry 4/3
Terry Penfold & Ron Lewis lost to Max Davison & Graham Croll 5/3
Resulting in a 4 / 2 win for the home team.
Our Season record now stands at played 4 won 2 lost 2.
Individual matches, played 24 won 12 lost 11 halved 1.

Canvey Island Away Day Match!
Wednesday 11th May
Brian Cowie writes
Our third match of the year took place at Canvey Island versus Castle Point on the river estuary. The weather was good and we were looked after well by our hosts. The course was not long and most of the difficulties seemed to be when you went too long with your shots, it was a course for those with ability to pick their way around without necessarily using the “big stick” all the time. Needless to say that was no good for me!! The results were:
Brian Cowie & Ken Pattenden lost to Ron Watson & Dennis Hollington 4/3
Gavin Grove & Dug Godfrey lost to Roy Pickard & Bill Assenheim 5/4
Bill Crozier & Peter Quelch won against Roy Cook & Paul Whittle 2/1
Colin Puddephatt & Ivor Blunden lost to Ray Hodgson & Ken Marshall 4/3
Bryan Foster & Alan Smith finished all square with John Smith & Pat O’Brien
Ron Humphrey & Roy Lowe lost to Terry Durrant & George Middleton
Resulting in a 41/2 to 11/2 victory for the home team.
I maintained my 100% loss record. Our record this far is played 3 won 2 lost 1.
Individual matches are played 18 won 10 lost 7 halved 1.

I'm hitting the woods just great, but I'm having a terrible time getting out of them.
